39th Annual American Music Awards!

The American Music Awards show was held at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and began with an energetic performance by Nikki Minaj, who would later claim two awards: favorite rap/hip-hop artist and favorite rap/hip-hop album for “Pink Friday,” which was released in November 2010.

The big winners of the night were Taylor Swift and Adele, who each won three awards. Swift took home awards for favorite country female artist, favorite country album for “Speak Now,” and artist of the year. Adele earned favorite pop/rock feamle artist, favorite adult contemporary artist, and favorite pop/rock album for “21,” despite being absent from the show recovering from throat surgery performed earlier this month.

Other winners included Beyonce as favorite soul/R&B female artist, Bruno Mars as favorite pop/rock male artist, Blake Shelton as favorite country male artist, Jennifer Lopez as favorite Latin music aritst, Rihanna for favorite soul/R&B album for “Loud,” Lady Antebellum as favorite country band, duo or group, and Maroon 5 for as favorite pop/rock band, duo or group.

Performances by Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, The Band Perry, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, LMFAO, Marc Anthony, and winners Jennifer Lopez and Maroon 5 completed the show.
