Five Songs for Father’s Day
There have been a number of famous musical families throughout history. One of the largest and most famous is the Bach family; the best known member of the family, Johann Sebastian Bach, was the youngest son of Johann Ambrosius Bach, a professional musician whose brothers also were musicians. J.S. Bach had several sons who themselves were accomplished musicians. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s father, Leopold, was a composer, violinist, and pedagogue.
Several modern musicians are fathers of children who share their talent. Frank Sinatra’s daughter, Nancy, had several hits, including the only father-daughter duet to reach Number 1 on the charts – “Somethin’ Stupid.” Bob Dylan’s son Jakob has a successful musical career. Two of the Beatles, Ringo Starr and John Lennon, each have musical sons (Zak Starkey and Sean and Julian Lennon, respectively).
